I'd read this before about Johnny haunting the Toys R Us in Sunnyvale, CA. Sylvia Browne was asked to investigate it and this picture was taken then. Johnny wasn't seen by anyone else apart from Sylvia attending the seance leaning against the shelves in the background until the pictures were developed. That's him on the left with his hands in his pockets and that's Sylvia bottom right facing him.
Some more details of the alleged goings on.
Quote:
The present store was built in 1970 and, according to past and present employees, it has been haunted since it opened.
Tales of toys flying off their shelves, bathroom faucets turning themselves on and off, and being touched or having long hair stroked when there wasn’t anyone around, are repeated by many former employees.
Workers would stock all the toys, leaving nothing in the aisles when they went home for the night. Upon their arrival the next morning, they would find bicycles, books, and dolls strewn all over. The employers took it for granted that the ghosts had been active during the night, and the employees didn’t get blamed nor reprimanded for not doing their work.
In 1978, Psychic Sylvia Brown, Writer Antoinette May, and a photographer spent the night in the store.
Brown saw a tall, thin man with a Swedish accent. He claimed his name was Johnny or Yonny Johnson. He said he was from Pennsylvania (originally Scandinavia), and had traveled west in the 1800's working as a circuit preacher until a bout with encephalitis left him mentally handicapped.
He then went to work as a hired hand on the Murphy Ranch. The townsfolk called him “Crazy Johnny” because of his odd behavior. He developed a crush on Elizabeth Yuba Murphy, and his heart was broken when she married a lawyer named William Taaffe from Boston and moved away. He said he was waiting for Beth.
Elizabeth died before Johnny in 1875 at the age of 31. She was separated from her husband, William, and living with her parents at the time. William died nine months before Elizabeth, and her parents raised their four children.
Johnny Johnson died as an old man in 1884 when he wounded his leg with an axe while chopping wood, and bled to death near a well. The store is built over the location of the old well. Interestingly, when his ghost is seen, he appears as a much younger man.
That is really interesting. In the picture the ghost seems to be wearing more modern clothes, or perhaps I just don't know what someone from that time and place would wear?

I do believe that things like this happen, but there are a lot of tall tales out there. I would kind of have to see it to believe it.

I had never heard about this ghost. Could you imagine being an employee there and experiencing these odd events? Would make for an interesting day on the job.

Yeah, now that you mention it, it IS kind of odd that he does appear to be wearing modern day clothing. Is it possible for ghosts to be able to adapt their appearance to whatever they see fit? I think it's a possibility. Could the ghost be having memories of a reincarnated past?

Where does all this information come from? Sylvia Brown? Personally I think it's ridiculous. I think Sylvia Brown is ridiculous. Why would a "ghost" throw toys all over the place? Why would a "ghost" tell Sylvia Brown all his business? I can come up with ridiculous yet believable stories too. Sylvia Brown.... and that Sonya Vince Patrick can talk to animals too. Once again I will say, it is TELEVISION.

Re: Sylvia Browne and Johnny, the Toys R Us ghost
I have lived south of sunnyvale my whole life and remember the hype when the sunnyvale store was opened and word of a ghost linked. The alarm was sounded quite a bit more and the happenings have been going on from the beginning. I have also seen my own share of spirits in my time, some that could take on others looks, not an easy thing to deal with. People who do not believe, tend only to see what they want in regular life and turn a blind eye alot. I have to believe because I have seen it and cannot turn a blind eye anymore.
