Post Re: Reincarnation
I'd have to say that I think I believe in reincarnation. I've done past life regressions and I have some interesting memories from "previous lives". I know that everyone and their brother and sister claims to have memories of being Napoleon or some other famous person, but I have a theory for that (besides the obvious that some of those people are just simply delusional).

My theory (my theories are always 'under construction' so they kinda change/mutate as my thots change through discussion) ... er, my current theory, is that we're all part of one large oversoul, 'god' if you will, and when we materialise as a human, it's actually just a small piece, like a teardrop of water, we 'separate' off into this separateness. So we spend our whole human lifetime trying to remerge with the source, and when we die, we rejoin the source and re-integrate our experiences. Then, at some point, we re-incarnate yet again. How 'separate' we remain, throughout lifetimes of reincarations, I don't know ... of course, this is only a theory.

But I think this might explain why some can have memories of being the same person in a past life, because they share some of the same 'soul material' as the incarnation of that person in a past life. Then of course theres the whole going toward nirvana thing, maybe we don't fully rejoin the source until we've fully integrated all aspects of our soul or spirit identity or whatever ... I don't know ... I'm just making a guess here, like I said, this is still a theory of mine under construction.

But yes, I believe in reincarnation, or at the very least, I believe that I, whatever "I" am, existed prior to this current incarnation, and will exist beyond this incarnation. I can't fathom anything else.

Peace,
~Lissa Valerian

Post Re: Reincarnation
OK MY THIRD ATTEMPT TO GET THIS MESSAGE POSTED (THINKS BACK TO THREAD ON THINGS HAPPENING IN 3'S... MAYBE THERE IS SOMETHING TO THAT AFTERALL). AND IF BOB STEALS THIS SO HELP ME.. NO GHOUL-LOSH FOR HIM... AND IF YOU DONT KNOW WHO BOB IS I RECOMMEND YOU COME TO CHAT AND MEET HIM..... ANYWAYS.. MY THOUGHTS ON MY YOUNGER BROTHER.....

I AM THE ONLY ONE IN MY FAMILY THAT HOLDS ANY INTEREST IN THE PARANORMAL. THE REST OF MY FAMILY IS MODERATLY RELIGOUS AND HOLD THEIR OWN BELIEFS AS SET BY THEIR RELIGION ABOUT REINCARNATION, THAT IT SIMPLY DOES NOT HAPPEN.

NOW, MY YOUNGER BROTHER, A RATHER JOVIAL FELLA, IS ALWAYS HAPPY, JOKES ALL THE TIME, AND WILL ENGAGE IN ANY CONVERSTAION. BUT WHEN IT COMES TO THE HOLOCAUST(BOOKS, MOVIES, OR SIMPLY TALKING ABOUT IT), HE REFUSES TO PARTICIPATE. HE GETS TEARY EYED AND MUST LEAVE THE ROOM,AS HE DOESNT WANT ANYONE TO SEE HOW MUCH IT BOTHERS HIM. FURTHERMORE, THIS PAST SPRING MY FAMILY TOOK A TRIP TO DC AND WENT TO VISIT THE HOLOCAUST MUSEUM. MY BROTHER BROKE DOWN IN TEARS AND COULDNT ENTER. HE SAT OUTSIDE WHILE THE REST OF MY FAMILY WENT THROUGH.

AFTER THEY TOLD ME WHAT HAPPENED... I MADE THE COMMENT.. THAT PERHAPS THE REASON WHY HE IS SO AFFECTED BY THE HOLOCAUST WAS THAT PERHAPS HE LIVED THROUGH IT IN A PAST LIFE. AND ALL THE EMOTIONS HE FEELS TODAY ARE REMNANTS OF WHOEVER HE WAS BEFORE. NOW I MADE THIS COMMENT IN FRON T OF MY WHOLE FAMILY, THOUGH I WASNT SURE HOW THEY WOULD TAKE IT. BUT MUCH TO MY SURPRISE THEY DIDNT TOTALLY DISMISS THE IDEA AND EVEN SAID THAT IT MADE SENSE.

NOW MY THOUGHTS DOESNT MAKE HIS SCENARIO TRUE BY ANY MEANS. I JUST THOUGHT I WOULD SHARE.

Who knows, there may be something to that. How old is your brother? When did you first notice any reactions regarding that? I mean, you may be on to something there. I certainly believe it. There are many cases of kids who when very young remembered extraordinary details of previous lives and whose stories were confirmed. This has been documented by people who have researched these childrens stories.

http://paranormal.about.com/cs/reincarn ... 1103_2.htm

One of my younger brothers went through a phase when he was like 4 or 5 where he was "no longer Tommy" but he was "Jack" instead. He went around and made everyone call him Jack. He'd get really mad and stomp his feet if you called him Tommy. He'd say "Tommy isn't here, I'm Jack!" And he did this for like 3 or 4 months or so. It was really strange. So we called him Jack. I don't remember all the stories he told us, but he did tell us some stories. Then, all of a sudden, Jack was gone, and Tommy was back. Now the weird thing is, Tommy doesn't remember anything about Jack.

Here is ANOTHER weird thing. Now Tommy has grown up, he's Tom now. He's had two kids. He named his first kid, Jack. He laughs at us all when we tell him about that whole episode, because he has no memory of it at all.

Very interesting stuff.

I'm curious about your brother and if you've talked to him about this reaction and what his thoughts are about it. Has he done any kind of past life regressions or hypnosis? That might prove very very interesting ...

WE ALL FIRST NOTICED IT WHEN HE WAS FIRST INTRODUCED TO THE TOPIC IN SCHOOL. IN ONE CLASS THEY WATCHED SCHINDLERS LIST.. AND HE GOT UP AND LEFT THE ROOM BECAUSE IT BOTHERED HIM SO MUCH, HE VOWED THEN THAT HE WOULD NEVER WATCH ANYTHING REGARDING THE HOLOCUAST AGAIN AND SIMPLY DOES NOT WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT.

WHILE I FIND THE IDEA OF PAST LIFE REGRESSION EXTREMELY INTERESTING I HAVENT THE FIRST IDEA OF WHERE TO FIND SOMEONE TO DO THAT.. FREE OF CHARGE OF COURSE CAUSE WE HAVE $0...LOL

Well, a family friend of mine, has a friend who I have not yet met, has just finished writing a book on reincarnation. He speaks very similarly of your theory. It's not quite fully published yet, (I was able to read the manuscript.) it's in the process of being published. It's a new book by William PIllow.

My friend Beth, she has very very similar "theories" as well, she calls 'god', The Pool. At the end of every person's death, they go back to "The Pool" and join back together until they are called upon again.

Wow! That sounds fascinating! I don't know where I picked up these ideas. Not sure if I got them from any specific reading or if its just from all of my reading about peoples past life experiences and such. I am interested in reading that book you mention on reincarnation. Let us know when it comes out. I'll take a look at it! :-)

Most definitely. It'll be a few weeks, maybe months even. Everything is still being finalized. I'll PM you the name of the book and author to avoid advertising. LoL

Post Re: Reincarnation
I believe in Reincarnation. Its a fundamental tenet of my faith...

Quote:
The Jewish understanding of reincarnation is different from Buddhist doctrines. It in no way leads to fatalism. At every point of moral decision in his life, a person has complete free choice. If not for freedom of choice, how unfair it would be of God to make demands of us - especially when reward and punishment is involved! Reincarnation does not imply pre-determination. It is, rather, an opportunity for rectification and soul-perfection.

The holy ARI explained it most simply: every person must fulfill all the commandments given to him, and if he doesn't succeed in one lifetime, he comes back again and again until he finishes. For this reason, events in a person's life may lead him towards certain places, encounters, etc., in ways that may or may not make sense. Divine providence provides each person with the opportunities he needs to fulfill those particular commandments necessary for the perfection of his soul. But the responsibility lies with us. At the actual moment of decision in any given situation, the choice is ours.

And if you're not Jewish? Reincarnation isn't just limited to Buddhism and Judaism. :P
