Post Have you ever been the subject of an Urban Legend?
Okay, this is going to sound kinda crazy.

I have become the subject of an urban legend.

Well, Also add to that "ghost/haunting" etc.

Let me explain ...

Have you heard the urban legend that if a college student commits suicide, the other students will get all A's the next semester?

Well....

Back in 1987, I had been kicked out of my home by my parents. I went to the college that I had been accepted to, Morehead State University, and they allowed me to move into the dorm, waterfield hall, over the summer prior to the beginning of the fall term.

During my time in the dorm over the summer there were only a few other students also in the dorms. It was very quiet. I was extremely depressed having been just kicked out of my home and rejected by my family.

I attempted suicide. I was 18 years old.

An ambulance came to the dorm, paramedics came up to get me. They took me to the hospital. I was in the hospital for two weeks. Clearly I survived. However, I was released from the hospital AFTER the beginning of the fall semester. They had shut that room up, and the residents of the dorm never saw me come back. They had already been reassigned by the time I'd come back. Someone had gone into my dorm room and boxed my stuff up and put it in storage. So, to all appearances, it must have seemed as if I had successfully committed suicide. At the time, I didn't really think about what other people must have thought.

I remember being released from the hospital and I remember going to the dorm and getting my stuff from storage. I remember how surprised the dorm RA's were to see me. Looking back at it later, I realize that they must have thought I'd actually succeeded, so they were surprised to see me.

At any rate, the next semester, I was working in the cafeteria with another student. We had been working together halfway through the semester when she came to work and was all freaked out. She told me that her friends had done a ouija board session in their dorm room because it was haunted. I asked her about it, and she started telling me the story. Her boyfriend and his best friend lived in this dorm room and apparently weird stuff kept happening - the door would suddenly fly open and slam shut, their tv kept going on and off. They were pretty freaked out. Then they'd heard that somebody had committed suicide in that dorm room over the summer. When I heard that I felt like I was going to pass out. I remember my mouth going dry, and barely being able to talk. What dorm did they live in? "Waterfield hall" .... What was the dorm room number? "358"

I had to sit down, because I nearly passed out.

That was my dorm room that summer.

You may be right. I've thought about that. I've heard that extremely emotional events can impact like the "energy field" of an area and make it highly susceptible things like "poltergeistic" type phenomenon. Maybe thats kinda whats happened there, sorta. I mean, I dunno. But you may be right, maybe there was already stuff going on there and I just fed into whatever negative energy was there, or maybe my suicide attempt was a catalyst for opening up whatever might have already been there, I don't know. Thats a good question. I have a friend of mine who lives in the area who is part of a paranormal investigation team. Maybe I'll get in contact with him and we can do some type of investigation ...

Wow, what a great idea! To investigate the site of my own suicide attempt. Thats ... weird.

Yes but be careful Lissa, it will most definitely bring back memories. Good and bad. Hmm... expect to be blown back to the past.

Well I don't know if this person is still around or if an investigation was done, but for one thing, with an ouiji being used, a door was opened, and it needs to be closed. There's some kind of a ritual for it but I don't know what is is though.

So, keeping that in mind, this could be a bad entity at work. A lot of spirits are bored and aren't trustworthy, so one could have been summoned and is going to say that it killed itself in that room when obviously that didn't happen.

Anyhow, it'd be nice to hear if an investigation was done, this was quite an episode, to say the least, glad the person who posted (if they're still around) got through that very difficult time in their life.

Another possibility is that everyone talked about the alleged suicide and people came into the room believing the story was entirely true, and the energy from their suspicions built up enough to manifest an entity to haunt the place.
Though I'd be willing to bet the ouija board had something to do with it.

I'm definitely going to go with, it was a case of an inexperienced Ouija board session...however, maybe the Ouija board session brought back a spirit that had haunted there once before?
